AEDPC Board Members Accept $700,000 Community Economic Development Grant Award

Rey Ayala, President of the board of directors of Azteca Economic Development and Preservation Corporation, accepts from Congressman Henry Cuellar the $700,000 grant award from the Office of Community Services of the Department of Health and Human Services. Vice President Lupe Ayala, and Treasurer Oralia Garcia, officers of AEDPC join President Ayala at the ceremony. Rogelio Trevino and Roger Creery will partner with Azteca Economic Development and Preservation Corporation.

Community Call Center

The Laredo Community Call Center (“LCCC”) is a Texas limited liability company established in 2010 and will be located in downtown Laredo. The Laredo Community Call Center purpose is to operate a call center where the federal government, state government, a corporation, a company, local government, and local school districts can contract its services where their inbound calls can be received or outbound calls can be made. The LCCC will offer centralized customer service and support functions at competitive rates. The call center will have call center operators who are bilingual and will be able to serve customers in the English or Spanish language.

Jobs For Laredo

This grant was awarded for the creation of a local community call center that will employ local low-income individuals and veterans. The LCCC is supported by the extensive experience and technical expertise of NEOF Technologies, Inc a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (“SDVOB”) affiliated with The Veterans Corporation. These partners will support LCCC to contract with to develop call center contracts, marketing to secure those contracts and to guide the call center in operating the call center and acquiring the requisite equipment for the call center. AEDPC is also supported by NALCAB – National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, a national organization that represents and services community development agencies that serve predominately Latino, low-income communities. Our employment partner, Workforce Solutions for South Texas is a local organization that implements a system of services focused to increase our community’s economic development - as a resource for employers to access workforce they are seeking, and training individuals to be successfully employed.
